The Mountain Cave

You become weary on your travels to hunt down him that they call THE BURNINATOR. Spotting a secret mountain cave hidden behind a waterfall, you decide to rest your aching bones. Little did you know quite what you were letting yourself in for...

The End Of Life

My grandfather died at midday yesterday, of unknown causes, while on holiday in Barcelona. He is the first of my grandparents to die. We have to wait another week before he can be brought back again. I do feel sad, but I can't help thinking I should feel sadder. Maybe it's because it still doesn't seem real. Perhaps it hasn't sunk in yet. I don't know

Slumber Eternal

"Take care O Traveller" the mysterious voice warns. "Those without care may find themselves under a spell of sleep ... and may never wake up"

I do actually have something to talk about it seems. Last night I watched Body Shock: The Man Who Slept For Nineteen Years, and it was very disturbing. This particular man was in a vegatative state from 1985 to 2004. During this time, his eyes moved would focus on different places, leading his family to believe he was still, in effect, 'alive'. In 2004, he somehow regained the power of speech, but had lost many of his motor functions, including the full use of his tongue, meaning that his speech was slurred. He also lost parts of his brain which inhibited his primitive urges, such as sex and violence. But more importantly, he was left without the ability to retain new information. He believed it was still 1985, that his 19 year old daughter was still a baby, and that he still had full motor control. Any attempt to tell him otherwise would lead to threats of violence, and he would soon forget it anyway. Another man was also shown, who was unconcsious for only ten minutes after a car accident, but recieved damage to the frontal lobe of his brain in such a way that left him unable to feel love for his wife and child. A healthy family life, suddenly gone, just like that. It really made me think, how things can change suddenly, and how we shouldn't take what we have for granted. This may sound preachy I know, but I don't care. If you watched this, I'm sure you must have felt even part of what I did

A New Beginning

What happens when the beginning ends? Can it begin again?

I feel that it may be time for me to actually pay attention to this little blog, rather than neglecting it most horribly. It might even give me a sense of self actualisation. I decided that I wanted to keep a diary, before realalising that I actually already have one - this blog. So I'll blog in it more, hopefully. At this precise moment, I don't really have a huge amount to discuss, preach about, moan about or suchlike, so I guess we'll just do a quick snapshot of my life at the moment. Second day of mock exams today, which meant Government + Politics this morning. Think I did OK on the first question: Distinguish between positive and negative freedoms and explain the implications of each for the state. Hopefully I did better than the last time I attempted that question anyway, when I got six out of 20. The second question, about why Conservatives promote tradition, I think I buggered up a bit on, but I managed to get some points in there. Then the final 60 mark question, explaining Marx's theory of history: I got a lot of stuff down, but I couldn't quite remember all the details, so I just put down as much as I could. Hopefully it payed off.

Yesterday was Drama, which I think went OK. Speaking of Drama, sometime within the next three or so weeks, I have my final ever Drama performance exam, which we still don't have a final script for yet ... every time we try to cut it down its stil too long, we want to cut it to 20 minutes. First time we read it it took 2 and a quarter hours! So I'll be in school on Friday after my last exam, Law, slaving away. Oh well, I have the next two days off, so lie-ins all round!

Whats coming up in the not too distant future? Half term soon, but not much of a rest there. Still got two more open days to go to before I decide which Uni to go to. Leaving school in May, exams in June, and then its up and off to Uni I guess. A lot of times nowadays, I wish I could go back to year 9, 10, 11 or 12, just any time that gives me a bit more time before I have to rush headlong into the future

The breath of life

There is only one creature in the bestiary that could possibly break this ancient magic that holds us prisoner. The fabled Dragon that can breathe life into the dead. As it passes overhead, and life is breathed slowly back into your long frozen body, you're first feeling is one of sheer relief...

So I have my computer back, and I can be bothered to do this again, although I figure its probably not gonna be a too frequent thing, as I simply can't be bothered. Anyone reading has missed a huge chunk of my life now, but ah well, you don't really care anyway, right?

Time remains frozen

Time, mortals, remains frozen. The arcane instrument which let the storyteller interact with your world has been damaged. The storyteller could use his ancient magic to communicate with you, but all of his power is being consumed by his neverending quest to keep dark forces at bay. In his quest for knowledge, he must travel for four days, before continuing his solitary war. But do not despair, for all is never lost. There is always light on the horizon...

Translation: my computer is still broken, although it should be fixed soon. I have to go to Oxford next week to be interviewed, and I have to stay down there from Tuesday to Friday or Saturday. In addition to that, I have 20 pages worth of Drama coursework to write by Christmas, of which I have so far done 11, so I have to spend all my time at school doing that. Bear with me though, loyal readers (if any of you exist, which I doubt). I'll be back.... one day

Time frozen

You suddenly experience a rush of disorientation, and fall to your knees. When you are able to stand again, the voice from the darkness greets you once again. "Sorry about that," it says. "Time just stopped for about a week there....."

Yeah, so my computer is completely buggered up, and now won't work at all. So for now, I'm having to blog on the school's computers. Bugger. Had quite a good half term. Birthday :) Bryan Adams :) Thorpe Park :) Twas pretty good. Not much free time though, and, er, not much work done either.

A thousand trumpets

The sound of the aforementioned music continues to drift past your ear from somewhere in the deep recesses of the mountain cave. Your mind is plunged back to a memory from the courtyard of the castle nearly a year previously, where you were entertained by the thousand trumpets of a wandering musician group....

I'm going to see Muse in December and Velvet Revolver in January! Not forgetting Bryan Adams this Friday of course! :)

A letter

You are overcome by a feeling of hungriness... Rummaging in your pack, instead of food you discover a letter from your king. "Congratulations," it reads.....

Hehe, this morning I got a letter from your friend and mine, our local MP Richard Ottoway. "Congratulations on becoming 18" was what it said. It amused me somewhat. It was quite a good gesture for an MP to make, but needless to say I doubt I will be voting Conservative next year

A music on the air

Without warning a mysterious, yet beautiful music starts up... Although you are sure you have never heard the music before, you find yourself inextricably swaying, tapping your foot, and humming along with it....

Music. I love it. Can't get enough of it. I have some 50 or so bands that I would like to get a Best Of album of. Unfortunately, I don't buy CDs as often as you might think, and probably listen to them less than most people. How odd. I also feel the need to over analyse music, and try to hunt down the ghostly figure known as "the favourite". Favourite songs, albums or bands, whatever. It takes away from the innocent virgin purity of music somewhat. Anyway, today I have been listening to two tracks from Bon Jovi's little known self titled debut album (She Don't Know Me and Come Back are those two tracks), and the entire of Pearl Jam's No Code album, paying particular attention to the songs Smile and Present Tense. Won't you dance with me?

The mysterious voice

As you settle into the mountain cave, a mysterious voice from somwhere in the shadows startles you. "Welcome," it says. "We've been expecting you...."

Yeah, so I shall probably have one of these shit opening pieces to every, or nearly every blog I decide to make. Apologies for that. My voyage today has not been one of discovery, in fact it seems mostly to be retreading over the same ground again... I need a break. A proper break, which half-term will not be. One where I don't have to worry about anything. *Sigh* First A2 level Drama performance exam comes up in 3 weeks tomorrow, and we are very unprepared. On the plus side, I have quite a good week planned next week. My birthday on Monday, the celebrations for which start on Sunday, and carry on to the following day. Then going to Thorpe Park on Tuesday; then going to see Bryan Adams at Wembley Arena on Friday. And then getting up for work on Saturday. Marvellous. Fare ye well, fellow travellers

Evening

Good Evening, and welcome to The Mountain Cave *cue mysterious laugh, sinister yet seductive*. This is my personal blog which I randomly decided to create cos everyone else is at the moment. Who knows what I shall be putting on here? Certainly not Rupert Everett, thats for damn sure. But one thing you can be sure of is that it will always have a mystical, ethereal quality. Or it'll be complete bollocks, whatever I feel like at the time :)

Have fun
